Pink Heals National Tour Blazes into Topeka

Office of the State Fire Marshal | Jul 30, 2014

TOPEKA, Kan. — The Pink Heals National Tour, which supports women and families dealing with cancer, will make a stop in Topeka on Monday, Aug. 4. This event is hosted by the Mission Township, Soldier Township Fire and Topeka Fire Depts., North Topeka Arts District (NOTO), Visit Topeka, Inc. and The Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM).

The Pink Heals National Tour travels across the United States in pink fire trucks full of signatures from women battling cancer, cancer survivors and those who have lost loved ones. The organization is dedicated to supporting those afflicted with cancer, raising awareness and promoting its “Care Enough to Wear Pink” message.

The public is invited to visit the Pink Fire Trucks and add their signatures to the trucks. The event is free and all donations stay within our community. The sales of their t-shirts and merchandise keep the fire trucks on their mission of love and hope.

“I encourage all residents, business owners and community leaders to join me in honoring those we have lost in the battle against cancer, lending strength to those who are fighting cancer, and helping with our pledge to educate our community about the risk factors, prevention and early detection of all cancers,” said Kansas State Fire Marshal Doug Jorgensen.

The public has several chances to interact with the tour as they travel around Topeka on Monday. Due to scheduling conflicts, the tour will now kick off at 3 p.m. outside the State Capitol Building at instead of the West Ridge Mall as stated in a previous news release. From 4:30- 5:30 p.m. the Pink Heals Tour will visit cancer patients in their homes. The next stops on the tour are the Mission Township Fire Department, 3101 SW Urish Rd., and the Soldier Township Fire Department, 600 NW 46th St., from 5:30-7 p.m. The event will conclude at the North Topeka Arts District on Kansas Ave. between NW Laurent and NW Gordon from 7-9 p.m.

Donations, merchandise purchases and project related information can be accessed at www.pinkfiretrucks.org.
